Time to install Google Analytics …

Why?

Because I not only want to see how many visitors are coming to my website, but because I also want to know where they are coming from.

Why?

Because I want to implement, test and track all kinds of traffic attraction tactics.

Huh! – Why?

Because the more I know about how and why people find my site, the more I can focus on those sweet spots that bring the best visitors to the site.

OK … But Why?

Because the Pareto Principle (aka the 80/20 rule) applies here — our best traffic will come from just a few KEY sources. So we should focus on increasing traffic attraction from those sources (those are the sweet spots).

Well OK, but Why?

Because the quantity and quality of our traffic translates directly into income — so the more quality traffic you can attract, the more money you will make!

… but for now, we’re just installing Google Analytics.

The standard WordPress theme was too BORING for me!

So I found and installed a NEW blog theme

At the time of writing this post, I’m using a theme called TreeHouse — cute, huh? (along with a few custom tweaks I added myself).

I like this theme because it has a generally nice look and feel — plus it also includes the all-important RSS feed (the orange button in the top right-hand corner) — and also the Twitter Bird (click the blue bird to follow me on Twitter) along with my recent Tweet (twitter message).

I’m Dave X … and this is my first post on this new blog

Of course, my website name does mean “I am Dave X”

But also refers to “Internet Marketing with Dave X”

So welcome to the first step in my online “Journey of a Thousand Miles”

I invite YOU to come along with me on my journey as I learn and grow as an internet marketing entrepreneur. So far, I found this path to be full of pot holes and pit falls — so watch out! — but if you follow in my foot steps (and heed my warnings) then you will be able to avoid many of those problems along the way.

Many of you (unless you are totally new to online marketing) will have seen how easy it is to get overwhelmed by information — much of it is not worth the pixels it’s printed on! You could spend a whole lifetime (and your life savings too) on the internet marketing merry-go-round — buying a never-ending series of products and programs from internet marketing “gurus” — each product just another piece of a larger jigsaw puzzle (or several pieces, if you’re lucky).

After all that, most people simply find themselves in possession of a huge jumble of jigsaw pieces from multiple puzzles, without any idea of how to assemble any one whole picture — and next to nothing in return for all their efforts!

… Been there, done that! … (sick and dizzy from spinning around and around)

Anyway ~~~ one clear conclusion I have come to (from my experience so far) is that you will dramatically improve your chances of success, if you can find someone who will SHOW YOU the RIGHT WAY to do it — not simply sell you another bogus info product!

In my case, the marketing maven I am following is Alex Jeffreys! (my mentor)

… but that is another story for another day …
